A brand I have been following for a while, Brock Collection, showed their S/S 18 collection in New York last Thursday, and in a word, it was beautiful.
It was everything you want and desire in romance; a continuous dream state, an endless sense of purity and renewal, a permanent love-bubble. Leaves were splayed out down the catwalk, as models walked confidently and calmly through them.
Although each look was special, the above stood out to me the most. The dress was seamlessly designed, with a minimal, faded stripe that framed the waist and elongated the body, and a front slit that allowed more comfort and movement. The neckline was the definition of demure; showing off the clavicles and décolletage perfectly and the footwear too, followed suit; stripped back, pure, essential and humble.
The principles of husband and wife duo Kristopher Brock and Laura Vassar, who are behind the brand, definitely shone through this season, summed up by a quote that appeared on their Instagram:
‘Let the beauty of what you love be what you do’ – Rumi.
